Vietnam Rubber Association: Promoting the sustainable development for the rubber industry

VRA promotes the sustainable development for the rubber industry

On 15 January, the Executive Board Meeting of Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA) took place to summarize the outstanding activities of the Association and promote sustainable development activities through positive industrial application 4.0.

By the end of 2018, VRA had 125 members, and in terms of the ownership classification, there were 73 state units, 41 private enterprises and 11 foreign-invested units (FDI). In 2018, VRA had a number of outstanding activities promoting the development of the rubber industry.

The association has collaborated with VRG and the International Organization for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam to implement the Handbook "Guidelines for sustainable management of rubber forests according to international forest certification standards" and distributed widely to members, businesses, ministries and branches at the beginning of July 2018. In addition, VRA participated on relevant draft policies such as the Regulation on Sustainable Forest Management; The Circular specifies the dossiers of exploitation and management and traceability of forest products; Draft on national standards on rubber; amending and supplementing Decree No. 134/2016 / ND-CP on Import and Export Tax Law; the project to promote agricultural product export growth implemented by MARD, etc.

Information on rubber prices and news of domestic and foreign rubber markets are regularly updated on the official website of the Association. It also ensured the timely release of periodicals such as technical information of rubber issue, Vietnam Rubber Business Directory in 2018 - 2019. The Association also made recommendations and regularly sent representatives to attend conferences and briefings to update information on policies and solutions to support enterprises in difficult situations and reflect difficulties arised from members and enterprises to propose solutions. In particular, VRA in 2018 organized 16 delegations to attend technical conferences and seminars in other countries including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, etc.

Regarding the plan for 2019, Mr. Tran Ngoc Thuan - Chairman of VRG, said: “In 2019, the Association has tasks including: actively promote the implementation for the rubber’s sustainable development, develop the brand of Vietnam rubber industry, propose solutions to manage and improve the quality of natural rubber in Vietnam, continue to strengthen connections with Ministry and industry & propose solutions for difficulties of members, and strengthen international cooperations”.
