With the support and investment of the Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) since the program began in 2007, Cambodia has developed strongly in the rubber growing sector. This group has established 16 subsidiaries with a total registered investment capital of nearly 1.8 billion USD and planted rubber in 7 provinces: Kampong Thom, Kratie, Rattanakiri, Odor Meanchey, Preah Vihea, Siem Reap and Mondolkiri.

 

Impressive growth of Cambodia Rubber Company

 

After 16 years of cooperation, rubber companies in the Cambodian region are accounting for an increasingly large proportion of VRG's total exploitation and processing output and business efficiency. In 2023, VRG has a total business garden area of 279,795 hectares, with a planned exploitation output of 425,000 tons. Of which, the Cambodian region has 85,282 hectares of commercial gardens (accounting for 30.5% of VRG's area), with a planned exploitation output of 130,850 tons (accounting for 30.8% of VRG).

 

Mining output from the Cambodian region has continuously increased in recent years. In 2020, 86,355 tons were exploited (5% higher than the plan); in 2021 it will be 110,696 tons (10% more than the plan), and in 2022 it will be 124,634 tons (5% more than the plan). In the past year, among the 14 companies that met VRG's 2 Ton Club standards, there were 3 companies in Cambodia with a total area of 20,874 hectares.

 

The driving force behind Cambodian Rubber development

 

Rubber companies in Cambodia have applied many flexible and creative solutions to achieve these results. Currently, they are making efforts to exceed the assigned mining output plan for 2023 by 5-6%. According to the output progress of the first quarter (14.3%), second quarter (13.8%), third quarter (32.5%) and fourth quarter (39.5%), the units have implemented 39,212 tons (30% of the year's plan, exceeding 1.9% of the set plan). It is expected that by the end of 2023, the units will process 137,143 tons (more than 9% of the year's plan), consume 138,719 tons (4% of the plan), and have a total revenue of nearly 4,720 billion VND. This will ensure stable income for nearly 17,200 workers.

 

In addition, Tan Bien Kampong Thom PTCS Co., Ltd. invested in building the first rubber latex processing factory in Cambodia in 2014, with a capacity of 3,000 tons/year. On July 28, the rubber factory of PTCS C.R.C.K Company was inaugurated. This is VRG's 9th factory in Cambodia, increasing the total processing capacity to 118,900 tons/year. Products have diversified to meet customer needs, including SVR 10, 20 (105,900 tons), RSS (7,000 tons), SVR 3L, 5 (6,000 tons)
